Program Review

Pursuant to MnSCU Board Policy 3.10, a Program Review process exists to improve the quality of teaching and learning by instating review oversight. To ensure continuous improvement, Program Review is a three-year review cycle for each program/department at the College. Each year, approximately one-third of all programs/departments participate in review. Inver Hills' review policy and the program review template are available below. Additionally, information about the AQIP Action Project that led to the creation of the Program Review policy is described on the AQIP Action Projects page.

Ongoing Evaluation of Student Services

The Action Research Committee is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of service provided to students and potential students of Inver Hills Community College.  Utilizing a program outcomes approach, student affairs personnel utilize surveys and other methods to identify and respond to the needs of a changing student population.  This approach has allowed staff members to improve their awareness of student needs, to identify and pursue opportunities for improvement, and to measure the outcomes of quality improvement efforts.

Changes Implemented by the Action Research Committee

Assessment Center:

• Established a dedicated testing schedule for multiple forms of assessment.   By focusing on different forms of testing according to a differentiated schedule, improved efficiencies and quality of service.
• Expanded GED testing into the evening hours thereby accommodating the scheduled of working adults.
• Established a distance proctoring function thereby allowing potential students to receive Inver Hills course placement reports from off-site testing locations.
• Implemented seasonal staffing patterns that more closely mirrored customer demand.

Disability Services:

• Established a website providing disability accommodations information to faculty.
• Implemented a means for providing requested testing accommodations for on-line examinations.
• Improved lighting in the distraction-free testing rooms.
• Initiated a Disability Services Night event for students with disabilities, their parents and family.

Peer Tutoring:

• Increased the availability of tutors in the late afternoon and evening hours.
• Increased the number of group tutoring sessions.
• Increased contact and communication between instructors and tutors including the sharing of course notes, handouts, and study guides.

 Veterans' Services:

• Established a Veterans' Club
• Established a Veterans' Resource Center.
