Program Purpose: This program (offered in partnership with Anoka-Ramsey Community College) prepares students for entry level positions in biomedical companies or for transfer to four-year colleges, including St. Cloud State, Minnesota State University- Moorhead, and Minnesota State University-Mankato. The Biomedical Technologist degree provides a solid foundation in science and technology as well as proficiency in problem-solving, critical analysis, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills. “Hands-on” learning is a key component, including a field experience with a local biomedical company. Program Admission: Inver Hills students also must apply for admission to one of the Biomedical (BMED) Programs (degree or certificate) through Anoka-Ramsey, which grants the degree or certificate. Submit the Application for Biomedical Programs to the Admissions and Records Office; consult with an Inver Hills academic counselor on details. The BMED Program Core courses are only offered through Anoka-Ramsey; classes will be held at Inver Hills. All other courses are offered by Inver Hills. Some students may need preparatory courses in the areas of English or mathematics. Courses numbered below 1000 will not apply to the degree.
Program Information: A minimum grade of C must be earned in all Program Core courses offered by Anoka-Ramsey. A cumulative grade-point average of 2.00 or higher is required for degree completion. The degree is granted by Anoka-Ramsey. CS 1100 Introduction to Computers is required for students who cannot demonstrate competence in basic computer skills. BMED 1100, 2100, and 2200 should be completed before taking BMED 2297 Field Experience and Seminar.
