Building Permit Technician Certificate

(18 credits)


Purpose: Designed to enhance the competencies of the present permit clerks or technicians, to prepare persons for the national certification examination as building permit technicians, and to provide certain knowledge of building codes, zoning codes, permit processes, legal aspects, customer service and standards of building, to prepare persons for a career as a building permit technician.

BIT 1215 Building Construction Plan Reading, 2cr
BIT 2000 Public Administration for the Code Officer, 2cr
BIT 2020 Legal Aspects of Code Administration, 2cr
BIT 2400 Land Use Zoning, 2cr
BIT 2650 Administrating the Minn State Building Code, 2cr
CS or CIS Any course(s), 3cr
Additional BUS or COMM, 3cr
