A.S, Professional Pilot

(60 credits)


The A.S. Aviation Professional Pilot degree program requires completion of flight training in the private through commercial flight training laboratory courses listed below (noted by * in Aviation Curriculum) including instrument rating. Consult with admissions staff for information about requirements for flight schools that provide this training and for a list of approved Twin Cities flight schools.


Purpose: Designed to prepare students who are qualified for entry level positions as aircraft pilots, flight instructors, and ground support personnel.


Program Information: Professional Pilot students should be aware that additional technical training and/or education beyond program requirements may be necessary for many of the occupational objectives. Graduates must meet the physical requirements of an FAA second-class medical certificate. The Inver Hills aviation program has formal articulation agreements with St. Cloud State University and Metropolitan State University. See an Inver Hills counselor for more information.


Occupational Objectives: Aerial Application Pilot, Agricultural Pilot, Airline Co-Pilot, Charter Pilot, Coast Guard Air Patrol, Commuter Airline Pilot, Corporate Pilot, Flight Engineer, Flight Instructor, Forest Fire Control, Highway Air Patrol, Weather Modification Pilot.
