(Teaching of English for Speakers of Other Languages)
(10 credits)
Purpose: This certificate provides education students, school paraprofessionals, and classroom teachers with the knowledge and skills to work effectively with English Language Learners (ELLs). Foundations in theory and applied teaching methodologies will develop awareness of English grammar, second language acquisition, sociolinguistics and cultural implications of language learning and instruction. In addition, students will learn how to create, implement, and revise lesson plans for TESOL reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
