Purpose: Teacher Education at Inver Hills Community College prepares students to transfer and obtain a four-year Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Education and recommendation for teacher licensure. The college has the only two-year education program in the St. Paul area with a curriculum that examines professional knowledge, engages in reflection and values diverse urban experiences.
The Teacher Education A.S. degree offers three distinct curricular tracks: Elementary, Middle School/Secondary and Early Childhood. The TESOL certificate (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) provides Education students, school paraprofessionals, and classroom teachers with the knowledge and skills to work effectively with English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) student populations.
