Inver Hills offers a variety of learning options designed for busy, independent learners. Classes are scheduled evenings, Saturdays, and at off-campus locations. Online and telecourse classes offer the flexibility for students to learn at a pace that works for them. In addition, late-start classes provide a chance to start college even after the semester has begun. These options are described below and include links to course offerings. For information and scheduling details about the courses below, see Schedule of Classes and for "Select type of search," select the appropropriate type of flextime offering.
Online courses are designed for self-motivated learners who are comfortable using Internet resources and tools. Course work is typically completed on a weekly basis and requires an overall time commitment that is equivalent to classroom-based courses, but completed at times most convenient for you. Some classes may include a few on-campus meetings; please check individual class listings for more information.
For a complete list of online courses, visit Online Courses. Also, in the Schedule of Classes function on this website, you may select a display of online courses only for the current or upcoming term (once the class schedule is set).
Also, visit the following Web site for more information and additional courses offered by other colleges in the Metro Alliance: http://www.coursesonline.mnscu.edu.
Online learning options also are offered through the Center for Workforce and Professional Development (noncredit) E-Learning program, including certificates and other professional training opportunities.
Saturday classes are an alternative method for scheduling classes, allowing more flexibility in a busy schedule. The following courses usually are offered at least once a year on Saturday. This list is subject to change annually.

Many classes are scheduled at community and corporate partner sites each fall and spring semester. Examples of these sites include:
United Hospital, downtown St. Paul
Central High School, St. Paul
Apple Valley Higher Education Center
Thomson, Eagan
...and many more
If a specific room is not provided in the section line for the class, or in the information about the off-campus site, this information will be sent to registered students before the start of class and will be posted with the section line information by the beginning of the term.
Students in off-campus classes can purchase books online or during extended hours; books are not delivered to remote sites.
See Schedule of Classes where you will find a search option for off-campus/accelerated classes. Also see directions to off-campus sites.
You still have class registration choices after the term begins. Many classes are scheduled so that they begin later in the term, including accelerated "second-half" classes offered as telecourses and classes held at community/corporate sites. In most cases, you can register for these classes anytime through the first week the class meets.
To see classes scheduled for the current or upcoming term (including course number, title, time, day, and dates), follow the link below. Note start and end dates; they can vary widely. For additional details on the class, visit Schedule of Classes and choose the search option for late-start classes.
Telecourses are 8-week accelerated courses where students meet only one night a week with the instructor and other students. The first night of class, students are given professionally produced videos to view at times convenient for them and in the comfort of their own home. These tapes are designed to enhance the classroom and textbook learning. A special fee is included in the course fees to cover lease and video reproduction costs.
This is a sampling of telecourse offerings, list is subject to change. For information and scheduling details about the courses below, see Schedule of Classes and for "Select type of search," choose "Accelerated and/or off-campus classes."
