INTS 1080 Medical Dosages

Provides a problem solving approach to the basic understanding of mathematical principles and calculations related to administratin of drugs. Includes mathematical conversions using the metric, apothecary and US systems of measure, and mathematical concepts/formulas required to calculate pediatric dosages and parenteral orders. Prereq: Recommendation based on the IHCC Assessment Inventory of Math 0092 or higher, or a grade of "C" or higher in Math 0090, or a grade of "C" or higher in any college level math course.

INTS 1101 College Success Strategies

Is designed to assist students in successfully making their transition to college by obtaining the skills necessary to reach their educational objectives. Provides a supportive environment in a critical transitional year for students to affect personal change. Topics included are higher education, college curriculum, multicultural awareness, learning styles, academic and career goal setting, communication skills, test taking strategies, research skills, and time management.

Assists students in successfully making their transition to college in the online classroom environment. Topics include learning styles, test taking strategies, online research skills, accessing online tutoring and other online student and academic services, academic and career goal setting, money management, and time management.

INTS 1103 Adults with Disabilities

Explores the various types of disabilities and how they impact the individual, the family unit, and society. A particular emphasis will be placed on understanding the unique behavioral, physical, cultural and psychological issues associated with each type of disability. HSER1103 and INTS 1103 are co-listed; department should be selected at registration. Credit will be given in only one department. Students wanting to fulfill Goal 7 of the MnTC must enroll in INTS 1103.

INTS 1125 Creative Problem Solving

Provides information and practice to help students become more effective problem solvers in their academic, career, civic, and personal lives. Students will study findings of current problem-solving research and apply them to ethical and international problems. The course will emphasize creativity, team problem solving, and conflict management as well as the technical heuristics of problem-solving, hypothesis testing, and decision-making.

INTS 1132 Effective Writing in Organizations

Is designed for people who need to write effectively in the workplace, this course will focus on aspects of business and technical writing in both print and electronic formats. Students will learn to plan their documents in terms of workplace audiences, occasions, and collaborative settings and make formatting and design decisions appropriate to their message and audience. Students will learn how to write documents such as proposals, procedures, resumes, and short reports. Students will revise and edit documents according to the standards of business and technical writing, including clarity, conciseness, and correctness. Prereq: Pass in ENG 0099 or placement in ENG 1108.

INTS 1145 Introduction to Technical Writing

Introduces students to the principles of organizing, developing, and writing technical information with a special emphasis on the design and use of graphics (print and electronic) to enhance visual appeal. Students work on a variety of assignments including designing, writing, and revising technical reports and articles, procedures, proposals, and mechanism descriptions. Some work on specialized software may be included. Emphasis is on audience analysis, effective design, and clear, concise, accurate expression. Prereq: P in ENG 99 or placement in ENG 1108.

INTS 1185 Special Topics

Explores how patients, their families, and professionals who care for them experience illness; how stories patients tell become the basis for diagnosis and therapeutic action; the healthcare professional-patient relationship; and what it's like to be a healthcare professional. Didactic presentations, interactive discussions using stories from patients', students' and the instructor's experience, and related literature provide the content of the course. Taught by an experienced primary care physician specializing in internal medicine. For students interested in a career in healthcare and/or in the patient experience.

INTS 2250 Issues and Perspectives

This course is designed to provide students with an experience which allows them to see the relationship between premise (or viewpoint), data gathering and conclusions. Assigned readings from a variety of authors serves as the basis for the discussion of topical issues selected by each class.
