From the alumni association...be an Alumni Resource
It is my honor to serve as the President of the Inver Hills Alumni Association for the upcoming year. My name is Dean Swenson and I graduated from Inver Hills in 1991 with an Associate of Arts degree.
Inver Hills provided me with the direction and starting point that I needed in starting my career as a Certified Public Accountant. Currently, I am the General Auditor of Wings Financial Federal Credit Union.
Part of the mission of the Alumni Association is to connect with Inver Hills alumni. Many times I have heard from alumni that they would like to make a contribution to Inver Hills but that they just cannot afford it at this time. I am glad to say that not all contributions need to be financial in nature. As a member of the Inver Hills Alumni Association, you can also make an important contribution to the current student body by serving as an Alumni Resource.
An Alumni Resource is an alumnus of Inver Hills who has agreed to be available to current students to answer any questions related to their career field and how to be successful in a career after leaving Inver Hills. Alumni Resources make presentations to current students or participate in discussion groups at events such as Student Success Day and career information meetings. Serving as a student resource lets you pass on real-world knowledge and experience to current students. The great part about contributing to this program is that the only cost is a small amount of your time.
Financial contributions are still an important part of the success of the college and its students. The Alumni Association is happy to announce that once again all contributions made by IHCC alumni will be matched up to $12,000. In its short two-year history, the Alumni Endowment Fund has awarded four scholarships to students based on gifts made solely by the college's alumni. I am happy to be a part of this successful endeavor.
While Inver Hills is not where I finished my academic career, it is where it all started for me. Please consider making a financial contribution or a contribution of your time to the place where it all began for you.
If you are interested in becoming a resource for students, please contact alumni coordinator Mary Dimick at 651-544-3714.

Golfers and Shoppers come out to support Inver Hills Students
The 2007 Forrest Glewwe Golf Classic was a great success! Golfers from all over the Twin Cities area enjoyed a beautiful day on the links at Southview Country Club in West St. Paul. The day started out with our first annual "Walk Fore Scholarships", a unique golf/walk exhibition hosted by WCCO radio personality Susie Jones. Attendees had the opportunity to talk with leaders from education, media, sports and business. They also received golf tips from three Minnesota amateur women golfers.
Tournament participants started out their day at 11:00 with lunch and 18 holes of golf. Tournament prizes were awarded for best overall in men's class, women's class and mixed class. Golfers and other dinner guests enjoyed the social hour, an elegant meal and auction in the clubhouse. This event raised $35,000, providing scholarships and programs that support Inver Hills? students. Thanks to all who joined us at this event and to our many great sponsors! Plan to join us for the twelfth anual Forrest Glewwe tournament on June 23, 2008!
New for the 2008 Forrest Glewwe Golf Classic--Alumni Division Awards!
Register for the 2008 golf classic and you could win a "Table for Eight" for the dinner/auction, as well as awards in the Alumi Division. See details on the Foundation/Alumni "Events" page (link on left column menu).
Alumni Give Generously to Help Students
Once again, The Katherine B. Andersen Foundation has offered Inver Hills a $10,000 challenge grant. Letters have been sent asking for your help in raising money to secure this matching grant plus another $2,000 from Friends of Dennis Anderson. In February, students from Inver Hills will be calling Alumni and asking you to give generously. Each dollar that you give will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $12,000. Your generous support in 2006-7 made it possible to receive the entire $10,000 from The Katherine B. Andersen Foundation plus the additional $2,000 from a Friends of Dennis Anderson donor. We thank you for your past support and hope you will again give generously to this important Alumni Campaign! Our students are counting on you!
We need your input...
