| Getting Started |
The Assessment Center administers a variety of testing services to prospective and current students. These are described briefly below with links to pages with more information. The Assessment Center is located in the Library building, second floor; telephone 651/450-8687.
Placement Testing
Assessments measure your readiness to work at the college level. Your test scores determine what English and mathematics courses you may register for. Other courses may also have required or recommended placement levels. Prerequisite courses or placement levels are listed at the end of the course description for classes that have these requirements. Sample questions, practice exams in mathematics, and information about the Accuplacer assessment model are included in this section.
Proctor Testing
If you need to take an exam required as part of your coursework at another college or agency, the Assessment Center can administer the exam in a supervised environment. There is a fee for this service.
Make-up Testing
Your Inver Hills instructor may permit you to take a test you missed in class (prior arrangement or permission of instructor is always required). The test can be administered at the Assessment Center.
GED Testing
Adults who did not complete high school may prove graduation equivalency through GED testing. The Assessment Center at Inver Hills is an approved GED testing agency.
CLEP Testing
The College-Level Examination Program is a nationally recognized service operated through the College Board that permits students to earn credit for previous learning and general knowledge.
