For students enrolling at Inver Hills through Regular Admission, orientation/registration is the next step after the application process. Once you've completed the application form, transcripts are received (if required), and you have taken assessments (or had them waived), your student application file is complete. You will receive letter inviting you to attend an orientation/registration session. You'll have a choice of days and times, usually. Orientation is essential for all students seeking a college degree and is required for all students who want to register for more than 7 credits. (Students transferring to Inver Hills from another college may have the option of online orientation; you will be notified when your application file is complete if you qualify for online orientation.)
Orientation sessions meet on campus and last about three hours. Morning, afternoon, and evening sessions are scheduled. Attending an orientation session is the most effective and efficient way for you

to take care of several important tasks. At Orientation you will:
- Register with the assistance of a counselor who will help you in selecting classes that fit your academic goals.
- Receive advice on important policies and procedures at Inver Hills.
- Familiarize yourself with the campus and services and activities available to students.
- Meet other new students and make new friends.
- Qualify for Priority Registration if you apply and book a session early.
- Learn how to register online and how to manage and access information in your student account including looking up grades, updating your address, checking your account balances, and changing your schedule.
Priority orientation/registration sessions are offered in April and May for summer and fall terms; additional sessions are offered throughout the summer for fall. For spring semester, orientations are scheduled in November, December, and the week before the term begins in January. Early scheduling is recommended so you have greater selection in class times.
