Transferring to IHCC
The evaluation of your transfer credits is a two step process:
- Submit your Official Transcripts to the Office of Enrollment Services.
- The Office of Enrollment Services will determine how many credits will transfer, and which courses will apply towards your degree requirements. This evaluation will be available through your Degree Audit Report (DARS).
Note: This process may take several weeks - especially during peak enrollment periods.
You may be able to determine how your credits transfer to Inver Hills by utilizing the Minnesota Course Applicability System (MnCAS), which provides information about how courses transfer from one institution to another.
In general, courses will be accepted if:
- They are from a regionally accredited college or university
- The course content is comparable to an Inver Hills course
Warning about Double Transcripting
You can not count credit twice for essentially the same course. In order to avoid the expense in both time and money needlessly repeating a course, it is important to have all your transcripts submitted for evaluation.
Appeals
Transfer of credits isn't an exact science and you may disagree with your credit evaluation. You have the right to appeal any courses you feel should have been accepted. After you receive your credit evaluation through DARS, you may wish to review the credit transfer policy and also consult with a counselor. A counselor may be able to help you determine whether you should submit a petition.
