Faculty Advice

Meet the faculty

"Students reach a true understanding about what they are learning in class by sharing that material and ideas with other students, family, co-workers, and friends. We learn through interaction."
      --Dave Berger, Sociology Faculty Member

Classes are taught by talented faculty members who choose to teach at the community college because of their desire to work closely with students in a teaching environment. Instructors hold a least a Master's degree in their chosen field and many hold more advanced degrees (PhD, JD, etc.). Whether you are taking chemistry, history, psychology, nursing or math classes, you'll quickly see that your instructors are interested in seeing you succeed.

Success Tips

Instructors may have fancy titles and degrees but don't let that intimidate you. A key to college success is working with faculty members. Be smart and follow some of these suggestions:

  • Locate your instructor's office
  • Ask Questions (in the classroom, email, phone)
  • Visit faculty during office hours
  • Bookmark faculty web pages
  • Review your syllabus (what's the best method to contact your instructor?)
  • Show that your making an effort to understand the material
