Policies
Several key policies are summarized below. You can explore these and all of the college's policies by following the appropriate link at the bottom of this page. It's definitely worth your time to review this important information because you will be expected to abide by and understand all college policies.
Email for Official Communication
Inver Hills uses a college-assigned email address as the official means to communicate with all students. You will be responsible for all information sent to your campus email account. At the end of this orientation you'll be directed to set up your account.
Class Attendance
You are expected to attend all class sessions. After two consecutive weeks of unexcused absence, you may be issued a failing grade for the course.
Sexual Harrassment
The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities regard sexual harassment of others by employees or students as unacceptable behavior which is just cause for disciplinary action. Sexual harassment is the use of unwanted, unsolicited sexual advances to gain power over someone else. Forms of sexual harassment include sexist remarks or behavior, constant offensive joking, sexual looks or advances, repeated request for dates, unwelcome touching, and promises of rewards for sexual favors.
Complaints about sexually harassing behaviors do not have to be formal signed complaints. They may be told in confidence to one or both of the Designated Sexual Harassment Officers who will make every attempt to maintain confidentiality if there is an investigation. Signed, formal complaints will be investigated and disciplinary action taken if warranted. If any student feels that he/she is being subjected to sexual harassment, the student should contact the Director of Human Resources and/or the Associate Dean of Students.
Parking
Ample parking is available on campus for students, staff members and visitors. Parking stickers are not required. Well-defined parking regulations are in effect and are enforced by the Inver Grove Heights Police Department. Reserved parking is available in the Liberal Arts and Fine Arts parking lots. Those with the State of Minnesota Handicapped Parking Certificates may park in either the College Center or Fine Arts parking lots.
Tobacco Use
Tobacco use (smoking, chewing) is restricted to designated outdoor areas.
