Associate in Arts Degree (AA)

The AA degree is intended for students who wish to transfer and/or satisfy general education requirements. This degree satisfies the lower-division general education requirements for any public college in the state because it includes the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum.

Students planning to transfer out of state or to a private institution often follow this degree in consultation with the transfer guide appropriate to their intended transfer school.

Career Degree Programs

Inver Hills offers more than 20 career-related degrees such as nursing, paralegal and network technology. These Associate in Science (AS) and the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degrees are intended to lead directly to the workforce so transferability of credits is limited.

The AS degrees may transfer, but they are designed to transfer to one or two specific programs at specific colleges. The AAS degrees are not intended for transfer, thereby requiring a higher percentage of occupational coursework.

View the Career Program Requirements to see which occupational and general education courses are needed to satisfy the degree. General education courses (Liberal Arts) are taken from the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum. The AA/AAS Liberal Arts document can assist you in finding appropriate general education courses to apply towards your chosen program.
