      STUDENT  SUCCESS  DAY

Instructions for Presenters

BEFORE YOUR SESSION:

1. Please print this page: Take these directions with you to your room.

2. Remember handouts, markers, etc.: Bring your own to be sure you have them.

3. Double check the complete schedule: Please be sure your information and room number are what you want.  All rooms have overheads.  If you requested a room with a VCR, DVD, computer, laptop plug in, and/or ceiling projector, you should have been given what is called a "smart room."  (A "smart room" and a computer lab are two very different things—a smart room has 1 computer, along with computer, VCR, & DVD projection abilities; a computer lab has computers for all the students, along with computer, DVD, and VCR projection abilities.)  If helpful, check your room in person ahead of time.

4. Print one or more "Session Attendance Sheets": Take a copy to each session.

5. Print multiple copies of the "Student Evaluation Sheet" if you would like comments from students.  This is especially recommended if this is the first time you are offering a session or if you would like to make changes in your presentation in the future.  (These forms are strictly for your own convenience and do not need to be turned in to anyone at all.)  You also may provide students with an extra question or two that you would like them to answer on this form.

6. Make last-minute room changes as follows:

(a) If you need a room change after the schedule is printed, please do so yourself by emailing Room Reservations and/or calling Judy Gouin or Judy LeMire in the front office.

(b) If you need a room change on Student Success Day itself, find Richard Jewell or Barbara Read, and/or look at the schedule yourself and let Richard, the HH lobby registration people, or Michele Zywiec (1st-floor Business) know.

(c) Once you have found a new room, please post a message 15 minutes ahead of time outside and inside your old room, directing students to the new room.

LOCKING/UNLOCKING ROOMS:

6. Get a "fob" for computer labs: A "computer lab" is a room with computers for all students.  You need a "fob" to lock and unlock it.  Please acquire one ahead of time as you would a key; then lock it afterward.  If you don't have a fob, arrange with me ahead of time to have a computer lab unlocked.  After you are done, please ask Michele Zywiec—first floor of Business just inside the main doors—to lock the lab for you.

7. Otherwise, don't worry: All rooms (other than labs) should be left unlocked for you.  Please do not lock your room afterward, unless your presentation ends at 2 pm or 6 pm and you are in a smart room—then please lock it.  (Someone else also will check smart rooms at 2 and 6.)

8. If rooms/keys are a problem, get help: Let the HH registration table or Michele Zywiec on first-floor Business know right away.  Barbara Read, Tom Williamson, Michele Zywiec, and Richard Jewell all have keys and/or fobs for HH and Business.

STARTING AND
ENDING
A SESSION:

1. Look for students' admittance badge: a name tag.  If it's missing, ask them if they have registered.  If they haven't, ask them to go, after your session, to the HH lobby.

2. Print and Pass Around the "Session Attendance Sheet": Take a copy to each session.

3. Pass around the Session Attendance Sheet twice: once at the beginning and, perhaps, a second time after 10-20 minutes.

4. If you move tables/chairs, please return them.  Also please erase boards after use.

5. Return the Session Attendance Sheet to the HH registration table, to Michele Zywiec in Business 1st floor, or to me by campus mail.
