FINANCIAL AID

The last day to submit paperwork for financial aid for Spring semester is May 6.

 

OFFICE CLOSURES

The Office of Financial Aid will be closed for training on May 7, 8,and 9. Please plan accordingly.

 

COMMENCEMENT 2008

Students who have indicated they will attend the commencement ceremony are reminded to pick up their cap and gown on Wednesday, May 7th from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and Thursday, May 8th from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. & 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. in Room CC-116 in the lower level of the College Center Building (across from the cafeteria).  For the ceremony on Thursday, May 15th graduates are to report to the lower level of the Heritage Hall Building no later than 7 p.m.  A reception in your honor will be held in the College Center Building immediately following the ceremony.

MOVIE

Student Life is sponsoring the movie TOMMY BOY in the Green Room on May 6 starting at 11:30.  FREE POPCORN!!!

 

VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

The International Club is sponsoring a volleyball tournament on May 6 at 2:00, on the outside beach court (weather permitting), otherwise it will be in the gym. Come as an individual or a team!

 

PTK DONATION OPPORTUNITY

PTK has teamed up with Better World Books for a used book drive during book buy back week.  If you wish to donate your used textbooks please do so. These books are distributed all over the world and it also helps keep them out of landfills. Boxes will be placed near the book buy back area.

 

INVER HILLS LIBRARY MEDIA ADDITION

Your Inver Hills Library has just added to our DVD collection: ATONEMENT, ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES, I AM LEGEND, INTO THE WILD, JUNO, 3:10 TO YUMA.  Come in and browse our collection.  DVDs, VIDEOS, CDs  are all able to be checked out for one week.

 

JOIN A LEARNING COMMUNITY 

Continuing students will want to consider a learning community for fall 2008 registration.  Scholarships for eligible students are available.  Choose from over 15 different combinations of courses organized around a central theme (Pre-Health Sciences, History of Rock and Roll, etc).  Students take 2-3 classes as a “team” for the semester.  Benefits include:  1) Getting to know other students on campus; 2)  Obtaining academic goals by working more closely with faculty members.  If you have questions, please contact Jenny Olson at 651-554-3762.  Space is limited so register soon!

THE U IS COMING TO YOU!

The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities will have a transfer specialist on campus Wednesday, May 7.  Stop by the Counseling Center ahead of time if you would like an individual appointment (651-450-8508) or stop by for walk-ins on the day the specialist is here.

MAY FITNESS SCHEDULE

May is a transition month for Rec. Sports; staffing is reduced during the summer and college events are held in the activities building which affects the schedule.  Please pick up a 2008 May schedule by the Rec. bulletin board located in the lower level of the Activities building (take note of changes and closings).  We are closed Friday to Sunday during the summer months, the last open Saturday was April 26 and the last Open Friday will be this Friday, May 9. 

 

Summer Schedule   

Monday & Wednesday                  10am – 7pm

Tuesday                                          10am - 2pm   

Thursday                                        10am -5pm

Closed Monday, June 23 and Tuesday, July 1 to Sunday, July 6.        

 

Student Locker Rentals: Thursday, May 15th will be the last day. Please remove lock and all belongings.  Any locks left on will be cut off on May 22.

 

Intramural Golf:    Tuesday, May 6 at Arbor Point Golf Club Tee times begin at 2pm until 2:40pm.  Cost $5 for students   $9 max for Faculty/Staff.  

 

THINKING OF TRANSFERRING?

A representative from the following university is scheduled to visit IHCC to meet with students interested in transferring.  The representative will be located in the lower level of the College Center in the hallway outside the Green Room.

COMPUTER WORKSHOPS IN THE COMPUTER LAB

Free Computer Workshops for the week of May 5:

·         Tuesday, May 6  in B121 at 11:00 & 4:00-MS Excel- How to create formulas and graphs from a set of data

·         Wednesday, May 7, in B121 at 11:00 & 4:00- MS Word- Formatting a paper saving to the user directory/access your user directory from off campus

 

ASK A NURSE

Students may use the Ask A Nurse service to submit any health questions or concerns.  You can access Ask A Nurse by going to the Inver Hills web site, clicking on Student Resources, Health Service, and Ask A Nurse or by simply clicking on the link above.  You will receive a response via e-mail.  Although we try to protect the privacy of individual information, please note that questions submitted over the Internet are not secure.  If you have a private or personal issue, you're encouraged to visit Health Service in person or call 651-450-8524.

 

CHILDCARE

Quality child care is available on Campus. They are now taking registration for summer and Fall Semester. The day care serves students, staff and the public.  Children ages 16 months-5 years.  Flexible scheduling.  Child care grant money available. Stop in or call 651-450-8627
