College is more than classes and credits. It's also student life and leadership possibilities-dozens of possibilities created especially for you. Just by attending Inver Hills, you become part of whole other community-a campus community that provides you opportunities to meet new people, build on personal interests, or discover new ones.

Kick Off
A great chance to get connected to the Inver Hills college atmosphere, this successful event gives students the chance to meet other students, faculty, and staff just before the start of fall classes. Students can join student clubs and activities, plus get insider tips and valuable information about Inver Hills. Tables featuring academic departments, student services, and student clubs and organizations are displayed on the mall. Student Success workshops are offered as well to give students a kick-start going into the school year. There is free BBQ, music, contests, and tons of prizes.
Spring Fling
A nice way to end the year with class, this themed barbeque with free food, music, contests and prizes is always fun and very popular among students.
Students participating in the Student Activities Budgeting Committee are responsible for managing an annual budgeting process derived from Student Activity Fees. These fees are assessed to each student that attends Inver Hills (collected as part of your tuition/fees for each credit you're registered for). The SABE helps decide what your student monies will fund at Inver Hills. They decide on budget allocations for student clubs as well as special requests for college events and celebrations.
These students assist the college with recruitment, retention and public relations. Ambassadors reach out to prospective and current students to make them aware of the programs and services we have available. Ambassadors promote student activities and campus involvement; give campus tours and assist faculty and staff with campus events.
Ambassadors receive a stipend comparable to a good-paying part-time job for the assistance they provide at events, orientation, and in representing the college. The Student Senate is the officially recognized representative of the student body at Inver Hills. Members of the Student Senate provide student opinion on college committees and policies. The Senate also develops projects and activities for members, the college, the community, and at the state capitol.
Accomplices is the student, faculty, and staff arts publication of Inver Hills Community College. The magazine features short stories, poetry, artwork, photography, etc. Submissions should be sent to ihcc_forum@yahoo.com. Editorial meetings are held Wednesdays at 2 p.m. in A-218. An internationally recognized honor society for two-year college students. Members organize a wide variety of activities and compete on local and national levels, and many are eligible for additional scholarship assistance at their transfer schools. Students must meet GPA requirements to join.
The Inver Hills Phi Theta Kappa chapter is very active and has been regionally and nationally recognized. Our members have competed for and won national scholarships and have been named as USA Today All-Minnesota Scholars.

Students have several music performance opportunities at Inver Hills. The Inver Hills Choir meets as a regular class offering and may be used as an elective credit. This course may be repeated for credit, also. The Inver Hills Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble are community-based groups that meet on the Inver Hills campus; band members include students, staff, and community members. See Performing Arts.
The Theatre Department stages one major theatrical production fall semester and two major productions spring semester in the Fine Arts Theatre. Students may participate in all aspects of the theatre, including acting roles, make-up, set building/dressing, lighting and sound, and more. See Performing Arts for more information.
Recreational Sports and activities offer a comprehensive program of quality recreation and wellness activities. These include both team and individual intramural, extramural and club sports competition in such events as basketball, volleyball, softball, tennis, flag football, golf, soccer, weightlifting and ice hockey. The Fitness Center consists of two areas, one area with free weights and the new fitness center containing 14 Nautilus weightlifting and cardio machines.
