Online Orientation

Welcome

Welcome to Inver Hills Community College and our online orientation. This site is designed to provide you with important information you'll need to know as you begin your college experience at Inver Hills.  The following recommendations will help you successfully complete this session.

• Find a quiet location
• Set aside about an hour
• Bookmark this site for future reference.
• Use a modern web browser such as Internet Explorer 7  or Mozilla Firefox 2 to ensure maximum compatibility.
• To view the orientation videos, you will need Adobe Flash Player. To view PDF documents, you will need a PDF viewer, like Adobe Reader .
• Many pages have a Find Out More section. These links will give you more information about topics covered on a given page. When you are finished reading about a topic, click back to return to where you were in the orientation. Links with a icon are external links that will open in a new window and links with a  icon are pdf documents which will also open in a new window. For these reasons, an Online Orientation window will always be open and you won't lose your place.
• Before you begin, download and print the orientation packet for quick reference throughout the session.

The orientation concludes with a comprehensive quiz.

Upon completion of the comprehensive quiz, you will receive information about registering for classes.  Here's a brief overview of each module:

Connect 2 Campus introduces you to the key resources you'll need to know to be successful on campus: faculty, staff, campus resources, technology and of course student activities.

Academic Planning addresses key information about successfully navigating your academic program.

Money Matters directs you to appropriate financial resources and spells out your tuition payment requirements

Keys to Success introduces you to strategies and tools to maximize your college experience

Registration facilitates your decision making as you select the appropriate courses and course load.

Next Steps concludes the orientation by directing you to the comprehensive quiz and the steps to register for courses.

Getting Started This site is designed for you to work through each module by selecting the "Next" () icon at the bottom of each page. You can go back to a previous module by using the Previous button. It also includes a menu system for easy reference in case you decide to return to an earlier topic or need to resume the orientation where you left off.
