Computer Lab

Services

The Computer Lab has over 50 computers for student use. Flatbed scanners, slide scanners, CD-RWs, and printing are available. Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) is installed on every machine as are several other software packages. If your class requires the use of special software, most likely it has been installed as well. If it is not on the computers in the lab, just ask one of the lab staff and he or she will help you. All use of the college's computing resources are subject to our policy on Acceptable Use of Campus Technology.

Fri: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
Sat: 7:30 am - 9:00 pm

Student Accounts

Your success at Inver Hills will be greatly helped by your use of the accounts available to you. Initializing these accounts should be taken care of as soon as you are able to do so. Your email account is used for official communication from the college and your instructors: 

• Initialize your IHCC Network Account
  This account is the one that is used to log into the computers on campus. Each account has a small amount of network storage for your work. This storage is backed up every night and is available even from off campus.

• Desire to Learn
  Desire to Learn (or D2L) is an on line space that many instructors at Inver Hills use to keep students informed about classes, allow students to see their grades and to hand in homework. It has a great deal of other functionality that your instructors make take advantage of for your class.

• Student Email Access
  Student Email is a very important part of your life here at inverhills. Make sure that you check your mail often. To initialize your account, visit Student Email Access. Make sure that you set up your secret question so you can recover your password if you forget it.

Student workshops

Students can sharpen their computer skills in Computer Lab workshops. Students must sign up  24 hours in advance. The sign up sheet is in the computer lab at the front desk or you can call the lab at (651) 450-3653. These sessions are free, informative, and the topics are always changing. If you have been to a workshop or have a topic to suggest that we should cover, please let us know!
