Acts of Kindness (AoK) provides assistance to students at risk of dropping out of college due to unexpected financial emergencies. AoK assistance was created to help students stay in college and meet their educational goals, ultimately, securing a better financial future.
Counselors will meet with you to discuss eligibility; if you are eligible, an Inver Hills Counselor will assist you in filling out the online application and providing the required documentation of your expenses (eviction notice, quote for car repair, utility bills, etc). Applications are submitted for committee review to ensure that eligibility requirements are met and ensure that the request meets the intent of the program. AoK assistance was created to help students at risk of dropping out of college due to unexpected financial emergencies, stay in college and achieve their academic, career and financial goals.
If possible, you should also have a completed FAFSA.

Important Update Fall 2021!
Before submitting an AOK application for emergency assistance please instead apply for emergency assistance through CRRSAA funds. This is particularly important for expenses that have been caused or worsened due to the COVID-19 pandemic and allows for increased funding beyond the $750 limit of the AOK fund. If your need is not met using CRRSAA funds then a counselor can assist you in exploring other options such as the use of the AOK grant.
Complete the Emergency Financial Assistance Grant form (login with StarID@go.minnstate.edu and use your associated StarID password) to apply for CRRSAA assistance. If you have questions please contact a counselor.
Contact a counselor at 651-450-3508 and request an appointment to discuss the AOK emergency grant.
