Student Email

All official communication emailed to you by the college, faculty and staff will go to your student email account, which ends in .edu.

Use your StarID and password

Use your Minnesota State StarID and password to set up your account. (StarIDs are a string of two letters, four numbers and two letters, like "ab1234cd.")

If you attended another college or university in the Minnesota State system, you will use the same StarID here. If you're new to the Minnesota State system, your StarID was generated when you first applied for admission.

Check your email frequently

It is a good practice to check your e-mail account once each day during the work week. This is especially important if an instructor uses e-mail to communicate with students. You should expect to receive at least one message each week from the college when classes are in session.


To log into your EDU account:

  • Go to
  • Login with and use your StarID password
  • Follow the directions presented to start using your email account.

Forwarding your student email

Students may forward their college-assigned email to a personal email address. Students will still be responsible for responding to college-initiated messages or notices even if forwarding emails results in losing them.

If you choose to forward your email, we suggest you "white list" the domain name.
