A.F.A. Transfer Pathway, – 60 credits
The Art Transfer Pathway Associate of Fine Arts (AFA) degree is a pre-professional program for students intending to transfer to a four-year program in pursuit of the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA)* degree and for students entering the art job market.
The Art Transfer Pathway AFA degree offers students a powerful option: the opportunity to complete an Associate of Fine Arts degree with course credits that directly transfer to designated Art bachelor's degree programs at Minnesota State Universities. The curriculum has been specifically designed so that students completing the pathway degree and transferring to one of the seven Minnesota State Universities** enter the university with junior-year status. All courses in the Transfer Pathway associate degree will directly transfer and apply to the designated bachelor's degree programs in a related field.
Program Information
The program focuses on courses in Art History, 2- and 3-dimensional design, introductory Studio Art, and second-year Studio Art. The AFA program concludes with a portfolio class (ART 2295) and AFA exhibition designed to prepare students for their next steps in their education and artistic practice. Students will take 37 credits in Art and 23 credits in general education requirements.
