The Spanish department offers a rich selection of lower division courses. Using a communicative approach, experienced instructors lead students to a valuable level of proficiency and cultural understanding in a stimulating and supportive environment. Learning is enhanced through multimedia technology, the Spanish Club, and study abroad opportunities. Students discover that by learning Spanish, they not only gain useful skills, they also acquire new perspectives on the world. Coursework may be used to satisfy electives and program requirements, to cultivate personal interests, or to begin the path toward a minor or major in Spanish. Students often complete their first two years of study at Inver Hills and then transfer their credits to a four-year institution.
