Student Success

Our Counseling and Advising staff can make your transition to college much easier through an orientation as well as classes designed for new students. Counselors can help you develop strategies to succeed in college, access college resources, and understand college policies and procedures. Check out the online tools listed below to help you study, take tests and manage your time.

Orientation

Attending orientation is essential for all degree-seeking students and mandatory if you are registering for more than five credits. Orientation provides vital information about educational options, selecting courses, college services, and policies and procedures. If you are not a returning Inver Hills student, please contact our Admissions Team for more information.

Classes for new students

INTS 1000 On Course: Strongly recommended for all new, degree-seeking students, this course introduces proven strategies to help you achieve greater success in college and life by providing an interactive environment for you to identify your motivation and opportunities in the following areas:

  • Enhancing personal growth
  • Making the right academic and career decisions
  • Utilizing campus resources and services

INTS 1101 College Success Strategies: Currently focused on helping students become a good online learners, this 2-credit course covers the following topics:

  • Academic goal-setting
  • Testing strategies
  • Time-management skills
  • Learning styles
  • Selecting courses
