How to Register

New student? Visit Get Started to apply online and follow our admission steps.

Online Registration for Current or Returning Students

  1. Log in to E-services to begin your registration session
  2. Select "Courses & Registration"
  3. Select "Search for a Course"
  4. Enter your search criteria and select "Search"
  5. When you find a course, select "Quick Add;" select "Wait List" to add yourself to the course waiting list if Quick Add is unavailable
  6. Select "Continue to Review My Plan" when you are done selecting your courses
  7. Check the box next to a course title to register for the course; you can check more than one course
  8. Click the "Select Course" blue button to proceed
  9. Enter your E-services password and click the "Register" blue button
  10. Print your schedule by selecting "View/Modify Schedule" and then "Print Schedule"
  11. View and print your tuition statement by selecting "Bills and Payment"
  12. Log out of E-services to complete your registration session

  • Add yourself to a course waiting list
  • Drop courses via View/Modify Schedule
  • Check your record for holds
  • Look up your grades
  • Check your student account
  • Change your personal email address, mailing address, and preferred name


Before you can register, certain courses may require the following:

  • Completion of previous coursework
  • Previous experience or familiarity with course content

You may also need to take assessment tests to determine your placement in courses.

Credit Limits

Fall and Spring Semesters

You can register for up to 18 credits; to register for more credits, you must consult an Inver Hills counselor or advisor.

Summer Session

Because summer session is an accelerated term (16-week courses are condensed into 10 weeks or less), you can only register for up to 12 credits. To register for more credits, you must consult an Inver Hills counselor or advisor.

Non-Degree Seeking Students

You may register for a maximum of 10 credits per semester.

Registration Responsibilities

You are responsible for following through with the courses you take, including payment and academic consequences that result from your registration. We strongly recommend that you consult an Inver Hills counselor or advisor before registering, or if you are considering withdrawal from a class or classes. Meeting with a counselor or advisor is particularly important if you are receiving financial aid.

You must cancel classes or withdraw officially; simply not attending classes does not constitute withdrawing from the course. You will be responsible for tuition due and may receive an "F" grade.

Note: You will NOT be mailed an invoice; you are expected to view your bill online. Visit Tuition and Payment for details on payment policy and deadlines. If you have trouble viewing your bill online, contact the Enrollment Center at or 651-450-3503.
