F-1 students must be degree-seeking. Certificates do not apply. Explore Programs & Majors here.
Yes, all international students who are on a student visa (F-1) must maintain full-time status as a student. This means you are required to take and complete a minimum of 12 semester credits each fall and spring semesters while enrolled at Inver Hills (summer semester enrollment is optional). If you take less than a full course load, you will fall out of status and risk penalties by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), up to and including deportation.
No, Inver Hills does not offer a separate English language program for international (F-1) students. Inver Hills only issues I-20s to international students who wish to pursue an academic degree program and have met English language proficiency requirements (see application for more details).
Please review the Financial Responsibility Statement. There you will find the estimated cost per academic year. The estimated costs include: tuition, books, supplies, fees, medical insurance (required for all international students), room and board, transportation, and miscellaneous or personal expenses. You must provide evidence of liquid assets, for financial support, for a minimum of one year before an admissions decision is made.
International (F-1 and other visas) are not eligible for federal financial aid. All international students must have sufficient funds to support themselves and cover all of their student expenses while attending Inver Hills. Please see the above question about cost.
Find information about payment options here.
International students can apply for Inver Hills scholarships. Please be mindful of the requirements, deadlines, and overall process.

We have students from a variety of diverse backgrounds and perspectives here pursuing their dreams and earning their degrees. Approximately 30% of our students identify as students of color.
