Counselors at Inver Hills provide professional career, academic, and personal counseling services to enable students to achieve greater success in the academic environment.

Community Resources

To ensure student success, Counseling, along with the college's Student Resources and Resiliency Committee, work closely to provide support as well as connections resources in the community.

Inver Hills partners with The Open Door food shelf to deliver the Mobile Pantry on campus. The Mobile Pantry provides free food support for students in need of food for themselves or their dependents. No income requirements or residency restrictions apply. To learn about upcoming mobile pantry visits, please contact the counseling center or visit the mobile pantry website. For students experiencing immediate food needs, emergency baskets of nonperishable items are also available at the Inver Hills Welcome Desk.

Financial Aid Office

Financial aid staff help students with many aspects of financing their education such as completing the FAFSA, understanding the different types of aid available, or interpreting letters. For details including a "frequently asked questions" list please visit Financial Aid.

Childcare Grant

The Postsecondary Child Care Grant Program provides funding to low income parents of young children (12 years and younger). The maximum available to a full-time student is $5,200 for each eligible child per academic year. Assistance may cover up to 40 hours of child care per week for each eligible child. The application for this grant can be found on the Financial Aid website under "Forms and Policies".

Inver Hills Foundation Scholarships

The Inver Hills Community College Foundation provides numerous scholarship opportunities for both new and current students. Scholarships are awarded for both Fall and Spring semesters. Acts of Kindness Emergency Assistance

Students may apply for emergency assistance to bridge the gap during a financial crisis affecting academic success (e.g. unexpected car repair or medical bill). For more information, or to complete an application, students may schedule an appointment with an IHCC counselor. Counselors can also assist students in developing a plan to identify additional resources and overcome future challenges.

Gail's Fund-Single Parent Emergency Assistance

Gail's Fund provides emergency help to single parents who find themselves in a financial crisis that may prevent or delay their continued enrollment at IHCC. Eligible students can receive up to $1,000 in emergency assistance to help them stay enrolled and making progress towards their academic goals. To learn more or apply to this scholarship, please make an appointment with a counselor.

Tuition Match-MN

TuitionMatch is a college savings program that provides matching funds to students who save money for college expenses. The Inver Hills Foundation will match every $1 saved by the student with $2 from the Foundation to help pay for tuition and fees. Student Lunch Box

The student lunch box program provides basic meals for students spending long hours on campus who don't have the financial resources to purchase food on campus or bring it from home. The program includes both lunch and breakfast items. Meal offerings vary but can include the following: soup cups, microwavable macaroni and cheese, oatmeal, containers of fruit, and other snacks. To access this service students should visit the Health Services office and staff will assist you in accessing the lunchbox program. No appointment or registration is required.

SNAP Enrollment and Education

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) offers nutrition assistance to eligible, low-income individuals and families. Schedule a meeting with an Inver Hills counselor to learn more about the program, eligibility requirements and how to apply.
