Learn how to support and configure Windows 10 desktops in an enterprise environment. Students will develop skills that include learning how to install, customize, and update the Windows 10 operating system. Key concepts include managing storage, files, and devices as well as how to configure network connectivity for Windows 10. Students will also learn how to secure the Windows 10 OS and protect data on the device. Finally, students will learn how to manage and troubleshoot Windows 10. This class helps prepare you for the Microsoft MD-100 industry exam.

Managing Modern Desktops

Learn how to plan and implement an operating system deployment strategy using modern deployment methods, as well as how to implement an update strategy. Students will be introduced to key components of modern management and co-management strategies for desktop computing. This course also discusses security in modern management including authentication, identities, access, and compliance policies. Key technologies will include Azure Active Directory, Azure Information Protection, Microsoft Intune, and Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection, as well as how to leverage them to protect devices and data. This class helps prepare you for the Microsoft MD-101 industry exam.

Provides students with the skills and knowledge needed to install and configure basic Windows Server technologies. Topics include Windows Server installation, configuration, PowerShell, Hyper-V, Active Directory, file and folder permissions, printing, and data storage. Students will also configure and manage network and remote access technologies including DNS, DHCP, VPNs, Remote Desktop Services as well as web services and cloud technologies. Finally, the course will cover group policy, certificates, firewalls, update deployment, and server monitoring.

Configuring Windows Server Hybrid Advanced Services

Covers the central elements of Microsoft 365 enterprise administration ? Microsoft 365 tenant and service management, Microsoft 365 identity and role management, and Microsoft 365 workload and application management. Students will learn about the planning and configuration of a Microsoft 365 tenant and sevices, including subscription options, component services, user accounts and licenses, and security groups. The course also covers Azure AD identity management, synchronization with Azure AD Connect, user roles and rights, and a look at authentication including multi-factor authentication. Finally, students will learn about Microsoft 365 workloads and applications including migration strategies, Microsoft Office software downloads, and Microsoft 365 application deployment and updating. This class helps prepare you for the Microsoft MS-100 industry exam

Covers the fundamentals of the Linux operating system, command line interface, and essential open source software concepts. This course is designed for students new to Linux and takes a hands-on approach to exploring the day-to-day operation of a command line Linux system and is aligned to the LPIC Linux Essentials industry certification. Course Note: Contact department or instructor about how to complete free pre-requisite 8-hour self-study course before beginning this course.

Administering Linux Servers

Course Outline
Credits: 3
Covers the installation, configuration and maintenance of Linux systems with an emphasis on server administration. A major focus of this course is learning the Linux command line interface for system administration tasks. Other topics involve providing network services such as routing, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, file, web, and email servers to network clients. Prerequisites: ITC 1480 or Linux Essentials Certificate (see course notes). Placement into ENG 1108 or completion of both ENG 0099 and READ 0093/0094 with a grade of C or higher.
