Alicia has been working as a TRIO SSS Academic Advisor since December, 2013, and knows she has the best job in the world because of the students she works with. Alicia’s favorite event on campus is TRIO’s End of Year party because the staff get to celebrate their students’ hard work and send students off on their next great academic adventure. When not working, Alicia enjoys spending time with her two children, reading, running, and watching Sci-Fi shows.
Alicia’s educational journey, in some respects, echoes a similar footprint as many of our students. She began her educational journey at Inver Hills and then transferred to Hamline University where she majored in German K-12 and Social Studies 5-12 Education with minors in both Education and History. She completed half a Master’s degree but put it on pause until her two children are grown. She chose to come back to IHCC because she benefitted from the excellent education she received while a student and firmly believes in the power of the community college system.

Matt has been the Director of TRIO Student Support Services at Inver Hills since March of 2014. Prior to his time at Inver Hills, he was an advisor for TRIO Upward Bound at Dakota County Technical College, advising students at Henry Sibley and South St. Paul high schools as they prepared for college. Matt also previously taught middle school English and Social Studies in Phoenix, Arizona. Matt earned both a bachelor’s in political science and master’s in secondary education from Arizona State University. In addition, he has a Certificate in Multicultural Postsecondary Teaching and Learning from the University of Minnesota.
Matt's favorite thing about TRIO is getting students connected to each other and to other opportunities to learn and explore their dreams such as volunteering, internships, research opportunities, or study abroad experiences. He lives in Minneapolis with his partner, Anneli, and their two kids. He loves to be outdoors watching a baseball game, hiking, biking, kayaking, running, or gardening. Matt also enjoys reading, especially modern fiction, as well as cooking, traveling, and seeing live music.

Jennifer has dedicated 20+ years to instructing, mentoring, and advising students within higher education. Jennifer joined the faculty at Inver Hills in 2018 and her experiences with the first-year communities inspired her to serve students in a broader way ultimately leading her to join the TRIO SSS team. Prior to Inver Hills, Jennifer served at Washington State University, Concordia University-St. Paul, McNally Smith College of Music, and the Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists.
Jennifer holds a B.A. in Jazz Studies and an M.M. in Music Performance. Jennifer’s education and career have taught her the benefits of flexibility, musically or otherwise, and the power of bringing creativity and sensitivity to everything you do. She is humbled to be a part of the student journey. Jennifer loves helping people pursue their passions, remove and reframe barriers, and celebrate their unique gifts. Jennifer hopes that students will leave her office feeling seen, heard, hopeful, supported and whenever possible, laughing.
Jennifer lives in St. Paul with her husband, son, and their three dogs. Together they enjoy hiking, games, and all things creative, but especially music.
